FAQs
What can you import?
While we currently focus on Japanese Market vehicles, we also have contacts in Europe for Euro-spec vehicles. We’re able to import any vehicle 25 years old (or older) under the NHTSA “25 year rule”. The 25 year rule is based on month of production, meaning that the vehicle must be 25 years old when it hits US soil. For example, a car produced in March of 1999 would be road legal in March of 2024. Contact us for more info!
Do you provide financing?
Currently we do not offer in-house financing. The best financing option that we have found is Lightstream.com. Many customers of ours have had great experiences with them! Most banks will not finance our 25+ year old cars, but many banks would allow a personal loan for a purchase from us.
What about exemptions for special cars?
The NHTSA “show and display” and race car exemptions are very stringent. As a general guideline, there would have to be 500 or fewer examples of the car produced to qualify. The current list of acceptable vehicles can be found here. Brace yourself, as you will need some deep pockets for these cars…
Are kei trucks road legal?
Yes! In most states, kei trucks are registered, tagged, and titled just like regular cars. We do not recommend driving them on the Interstate, but they are fully capable of going 50mph on normal roads. The status of kei trucks in Georgia is currently in limbo, and they cannot currently be titled for road use there. There is ongoing discussion in their state legislature to remedy this, but it is unclear when the status will change. Want to fight the man? Sign the petition here
Can you import parts, engines, and other large stuff for my JDM car?
Sure! Contact us for more info.
My buddy saw a 2002 R34 GT-R a few years ago that someone imported early. Can you do that?
No. We are absolutely unwilling to risk our business in this way. Penalties for importing illegal vehicles are steep, $10,000 per instance, and the vehicle is destroyed or exported immediately by US Customs. One exception to this is kei trucks. Kei trucks can be imported as farm equipment before reaching 25 years old. However, they cannot EVER be registered for road use in this instance, as they will be categorized at farm equipment rather than a vehicle by customs.
Can you bring me in a GT-R/Supra/NSX/ AE-86, etc…?
Sure! We’d be happy to. Generally importing any of these cars will save several thousand dollars versus purchasing one that is already in the US. However, keep in mind that all of these legendary cars come with a high price tag. Contact us for more info.
